How SmartCounter worksFrom site survey to numbers you can trust.

Every rollout starts from your business questions and the real conditions on site. Here is the process, step by step.

Process

How counting works

Numbers you can trust in every meeting.

SmartCounter counts people as they cross a line set at each entrance, telling entries from exits. In malls, moving between areas is never counted as a new visit.

  1. A counting line at every entranceSomeone who walks in and out is not counted twice as a visitor.
  2. Passers-by counted separatelyThe storefront is measured on its own, so you can see how many people come in.
  3. Checked before handoverCounts are compared with a reference count over an agreed period, and we share the result.

Engage visit = visitor traffic ÷ passers-by × 100. It isn’t sales conversion.

Validation

How we make sure the counts are right.

Accuracy depends on each entrance. So instead of one figure for every site, we agree how your counts are checked and show you the result.

Clear definitions

What is counted, at which entrance, in which direction, and during which hours is agreed up front.

Reference counts

SmartCounter results are compared with manual counts or another reference.

Representative periods

Checks cover busy and quiet hours, weekdays and weekends.

Re-checks when things change

If a camera moves or the layout changes, counts are checked again.

Privacy & data

We count people. We don’t identify them.

  • Aggregate numbers onlyThe dashboard shows counts, times, and areas — no names, faces, or identities.
  • Processing agreed per siteHow video is processed and how long data is kept is agreed before rollout.
  • Controlled accessOnly users you authorise can see data, by role and location.

Preparation

What to prepare on your side.

You don’t need everything up front. This list helps the survey go faster.

  • A list of locations and entrances
  • Details of existing cameras or recorders (NVR)
  • A stable internet connection on site
  • A simple floor plan of the store or building
  • One point of contact from your team
